‘MindLink’ REWIRED: Brain-Computer Interface Via “Electronic Banks”
Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) for Pentagon renewed operations in mind control? In my May 2021 paper, “LEVIATHAN Power of Universal Cyborg,” I envisioned,
“Holding a three-dimensional cube in my hand, I can do more than simply align the squares of a Rubik’s cube…Users will be walking “browsers” and “search engines.”
Speech-generating devices (SGDs) have literally given a voice to those unable to verbally communicate for decades. Visual interaction, however, opens opportunities for utilizing eye scanners equipped with multiple apps.
If the ‘eyes are the windows to the soul,’ then imagine a minuscule module implant or an external plug-in equipped with scanners…Similarly facial recognition apps with images and data…systems can highlight persons of intereste…”
Experimenting with advancements in optics and AI has proven prolific in the design of my terrestrial, airborne, and space prototype, “ӪptkMentis1© (ӪM1): Ӫperation e-LEVIATHAN.”
Pentagon, interested in adding it to your classified programs funded by ‘black money?’ 😉
“In 1960 the weekly l’Express of Paris published a series of extracts from texts by American and Russian scientists concerning society in the year 2000…Knowledge will be accumulated in “electronic banks” and transmitted directly to the human nervous system by means of coded electronic messages…What is needed will pass directly from the machine to the brain without going through consciousness.” – Jacques Ellul, The Technological Society, 1964
Indeed, much can be learned from the Americans and Russians. Hitherto, overlook the Israelis at your peril.
Tag You’re It! ‘VeriChips’ to BrainChips
Remember when human RFID implants were the ‘in’ thing? Twenty years ago, FDA “approved a gimmick from Florida-based Applied Digital Solutions to chip people with RFID implants – previously confined to tracking animals…”
Reported by Thomas C. Greene at The Register these “tiny, passive RFID devices, called VeriChips, are injected under the hide…store a unique ID number.” But it didn’t take long for hackers to take down VeriChips’ claims. At a High-tech cloning conference:
“Two presenters [Annalee Newitz and Jonathan Westhues] demonstrated the electronic equivalent of making a copy of an implanted RFID or radio frequency ID chip…Newitz said she has an RFID chip implanted in her right arm manufactured by VeriChip Corp., a subsidiary of Applied Digital. “Their Web site claims that it cannot be counterfeited — that is something that Jonathan and I have shown to be untrue.”
Bill Gates appears to have made a ‘cameo’ on the site posting his views.
Security concerns? According to a 2006 National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) paper, “The Security Implications of VeriChip Cloning”:
“We have highlighted and discussed the vulnerability of the VeriChip to simple spoofing attacks. For security systems that rely on VeriChips for authentication—like payment systems and physical access-control systems—the consequences are serious. With little sophistication and at little expense, an attacker can undermine system security by surreptitiously capturing and replaying VeriChip signals.”
What of BrainChip signals? Imagine hackers with a knack to hack your e-vehicle gain access to your brain chip.
BCIs – Fear, Fascination and Fraudsters
A lot has been reported of R&D in BCIs by corporations – Microsoft, Amazon, and Blackrock.
Here’s an idea! Instead of cutting through the brain why not simply replace the organ. I imagine with billions funding stem cells to grow meat in a lab, they can grow brain matter. 🙂
Elon shared his views since the Neuralink device was approved for human testing. But is it to help humans or control them? A ‘mindlink’ operating as a GPS to keep up with humans? Or, as Elon says, simply “a backup drive for your non-physical being, your digital soul.”
Pray tell SpaceXman, in the words of Jewel, “Who will save your souls? After all those lies that you told, boy.” Answer may be found in Ellul’s 1964 view of “A Look at the Year 2000”:
“One of our best-known specialists in diseases of the nervous system writes: ‘We will be able to modify man’s emotions, desires and thoughts, as we have already done in a rudimentary way with tranquillizers.’ Our man of the golden age, therefore, will be capable of “happiness” amid the worst privations.”
The “Neuralink’s website indicates it is seeking participants with conditions including paralysis, blindness, deafness or the inability to speak.” Elon, if you seek test subjects who “see no evil, hear no evil, or speak no evil,” then search no more. Will three chimps do? Makes for a catchy paper, “Chips in the Chimps” don’t you think!
Heard of Blackrock’s Neurotech, a BCI, “Neuralace is…integrated on an extremely flexible lace-structured chip.” Sorry guys, chip in the brain not as sexy as “junk in the box.”
Bill and Bozo are reported to be backing the startup, “Synchron’s stent, called the Stentrode, is fitted with tiny sensors and is delivered to the large vein that sits next to the motor cortex.” Looks like Bozo’s tissy fit about the JEDI is over. So Bozo, did the Pentagon make you an offer you couldn’t refuse or is your ego bigger than your brain?
But is a rod up your jugular vein safer than a chipped brain? JAMA study done in January posits:
“Brain-computer interface (BCI) implants have previously required craniotomy to deliver penetrating or surface electrodes to the brain. Whether a minimally invasive endovascular technique to deliver recording electrodes through the jugular vein to superior sagittal sinus is safe and feasible is unknown.”
What of sinus infections? “Findings In this case series including 4 patients with severe bilateral upper-limb paralysis, the BCI device could be implanted into the superior sagittal sinus…”
Says Synchron’s senior director of neuroscience Peter Yoo, “since the device is not inserted directly into the brain tissue, the quality of the brain signal isn’t perfect.”
Ah, but Doc, what good is a BCI if reception ain’t good? Appears ultimate aim is to make this procedure ‘more accessible’ and in the process ‘more scalable,’ with “2,000 interventionalists who can perform these procedures.” Yoo, WTF! Inter%#%#$st instead of Neurosurgeons?
We’re talking about peoples’ brains, not dental implants implanted by Dentites, NON MEDICAL DOCTORS! I can see the ad now, “Three out of Five Interventionalists recommend ( ? ) for your next brain-computer interface.” And a new shyster association, American Interventionalist Association (AIA).
If dental implants carry multiple risks including “permanent numbness, disability or death,” what of rod up your jugular vein or brain implants? Elon, Bill and Bozo, did you disclose findings of a JAMA investigation:
“Assessment of Safety of a Fully Implanted Endovascular Brain-Computer Interface for Severe Paralysis in 4 PatientsThe Stentrode With Thought-Controlled Digital Switch (SWITCH) Study.”
Here’s warning of clinical trials 2009 study said to end in 2038, BrainGate2: Feasibility Study of an Intracortical Neural Interface System for Persons With Tetraplegia (BrainGate2):
“The safety and scientific validity of this study is the responsibility of the study sponsor and investigators. Listing a study does not mean it has been evaluated by the U.S. Federal Government. Know the risks and potential benefits of clinical studies and talk to your health care provider before participating.”
Now, if you’re one of the unlucky ones and death becomes you, do you still wish to help science with R&D and donate your body? Heard about Harvard ‘management’ of donated body parts?
So you’re just now hearing of Elon’s, Blackrock, or Bill and Bozo’s BCIs and mind altering gizmos? These ventures go back decades with FDA approvals in 2020. Pandemic was a great distraction. According to Business Wire, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, “FDA granted Breakthrough Device designation to Synchron in August 2020.”
Looks like the FDA was not only quickly greenlighting greedy BigPHARMAS’ questionable use of mRNA but approving BigTECHs brain experiments with animals and humans. Human testing, what’s the harm in that says FDA? Appears no brain erased will ever know.
Conartists & Carpetbaggers? Recall my paper in September 2022, where I point to “Stem Cells: Return of the Carpetbaggers?” Sure, you want to believe and hope.
Yet, hope does not come cheap. Orange County Register highlights in June 2007, “UCI gets $3.9 million for stem cell work.” A California “state agency has given out more than $200 million, and…unprecedented $3 billion, as called for in the voter-approved initiative Proposition 71.”
But promises of a “miracle cell” fizzled out as did the money. Not even “Superman” could be saved. Alas, all good and bad things come to an end. Not so say Democrats. Pandemic and an election year served as a distraction for a Stimulus Package stuffed with bad policies and props.
Now it appears the stemmers need more billions to fund their ventures to address ‘climate change.’ Research in stems cells for humans has moved to growing plant food and lab meat for humans. Like e-cars, another bullshit plan to convince the masses to eat like a cow, while elite drive Ferraris and are luxuriously catered with a juicy Filet Mignon or New York Steak!
New California Proposition 14, Stem Cell Research Institute Bond Initiative (2020), “supported issuing $5.5 billion in general obligation bonds for the state’s stem cell research institute…”
But giving more money to the “stemmers” has not cured cancer and spinal cord injury. As AI and BCIs are now promising cures, it’s important to mention who supports the stemmers:
“Proposition 71 was highly controversial and prompted heavy campaigning by Nobel laureates, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, Hollywood stars and the wealthy parents of sick children.”
Interfaces: MicroSoft HoloLens v Atari Headband
MicroSoft, I remind you, Interfaces go back decades. ‘Game Boy, ‘PlayStation 2’, and ‘Xbox’ pay attention:
“Atari, looked into interfacing people with computers and video games in an entirely new way…A combination of headband with Infrared Transmitter and Infrared Receiver, the Atari Mindlink system…Using specially written software you could control the action on the screen.”
Bill, speaking of headbands and ‘Mindlink system,’ are you looking to do with modern Defense weaponry what you accomplished in gaming. Sure, you were able to crossover from PC to Gaming, a play Atari was unable to successfully compete in.
But you got a problem. Gizmodo reported, “A leaked internal Army report showed that the HoloLens tech simply made soldiers sick when worn for any extended length of time. Those testing the tech also complained about headaches and eye strain. Soldiers using the goggles also noted the tech “would have gotten us killed” because of all the LED lights making the goggles visible from hundreds of meters away.”
Microsoft, need to find out precisely what were the issues with the Atari headband and their troubleshooting techniques. Says one of the Mindset engineers Bill Lapham: “The original first-off unit did not work very well because once the user was comfortable with the system (10 minutes or so) his muscle reactions would overdrive the system. To counter this we redesigned the signal amplifiers to step down the signal amplification to reach a useable level.”
Bill, you got good people working for you at MicroSoft . But, are you listening to the right one. Dude, ya need to think outside the AI chat box. Nolan Bushnell, founder of video game company Atari, speaking of his former employee, “Steve Jobs as an engineer…became invaluable at “solving problems in the field.”
Bushnell was damn lucky and got “two Steves for the price of one” to build his arcade game.” Question is Bill, can you find another ‘Jobs’? Said Bushnell. “It was a trick … I knew if I got him to work the night shift Woz (Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak) would show up — he was working at HP — and Woz was a savant, no question about it.”
Microsoft, if Bushnell can’t help with your goggle issue, here’s another idea. Switchback Travel offers an array of Ski Helmets including one with ‘Goggle Compatibility.’ Or, take a bite out of Apple’s new “Vision Pro” headset. Apple’s AR headset, at $3,500 a pop, your margins will be low but will provide experimental samples to run test trials for the Pentagon.
Besides, you’re heavily invested in OpenAI and in too deep in Defense. You, or your competition, need to outfit a soldier with the same capability as my Human Artificial Intelligent (HAI). And I hear Pentagon wants lots of these operative HAIs!
Bill, as I point out to Elon, if you discover that the key to brain implants is site and stimuli, then I think it best you set your sights on my “ӪptkMentis1© (ӪM1): Ӫperation e-LEVIATHAN.”
Find if you dare the meshing of Man and Machine in my September 2021 paper, “Ring of Lety” Invisibility Flight.” Genetic Engineering offers exciting opportunities to design advanced humanoids. Integration of devices and applications can augment human possibilities.
Right, rewire and reload. Elon, as to your work with traditional centralized systems, I suggest you read Joshua Sokol excellent May 22, 2017 paper in Quanta Magazine. Sokol notes, “Many animals interact with the world in certain complicated ways that don’t rely on their brains.”
Yes, the Octopus eight-legged creature! “The brain doesn’t have to know how to move this floppy arm,” says Ken Cheng who studies animal behavior and information processing at Macquarie University in Australia.
Bill, recall special devices and applications have been developed for those with special needs. Indeed, much can be learned from them.
“Neural Communicator” is a 2010 paper published by E-Society Journal, by Dejan Lacmanović, Milan Kojadinović, Zlatibor Veljković, Vanja Zavišin, Goran Nikolić, Technical Faculty “Mihajlo Pupin” – Zrenjanin. Djure Djakovica bb, 23000 Zrenjanin, Serbia. Authors posit:
“Neural Communicator is a software application,…For input consumer BCI (Brain Computer Interface) device is used which enables hands free computer/user interaction by detecting brain waves…sending and receiving SMS, Windows Live Messenger and alternative communication technique by using Microsoft Speech.”
Bill, now imagine a “Neural Communicator” to interface with non-humans! Sorry, not sorry. But neither “Simpsons did it” nor “Gates did it.” Prototype? None other than yours truly! 🙂
Dr. ‘Monsterstein’, “It’s Alive!”
“If there were machines which bore a resemblance to our body and imitated our actions as far as it was morally possible to do so, we should always have two very certain tests by which to recognise that, for all that, they were not real men.” – Descartes
Having investigated pharmaceutical challenges in ‘blood-brain barrier’ procedures, I determined BCIs are not for the weak of heart or weak brain matter. Tech executives warn of the dangers of AI. Others claim it can help with what social media broke – your brain.
ChatGPT to solve diseases? And what of our ‘emotions, desires and thoughts’? As Ellul points out, “Why, then, promise us extraordinary comforts, hygiene, knowledge, and nourishment if, by simply manipulating our nervous systems, we can be happy without them?”
Depression, addiction, and suicide, or bad memories? Hey, hear new ones can be ‘implanted.’ Hell, it could be worse. You could suffer a “Total Recall.” Big Brother taking you for a ride?
Best not forget Hobbes’ words:
“That Which Seemeth A Miracle To One Man, May Seem Otherwise To Another…And thence it is, that ignorant, and superstitious men make great Wonders of those works, which other men, knowing to proceed from Nature, (which is not the immediate, but the ordinary work of God,) admire not at all.”
Unlike Elon, Bill, or others who venture in BCIs with altruistic hopes to “cure important diseases” and “achieve a symbiosis with artificial intelligence,” the object in the design of my “ӪptkMentis1© (ӪM1): Ӫperation e-LEVIATHAN,” is of a tactical nature.
Descartes would be taken aback to discover that the concept of machines being or not being “real men” would prove to be unreasonable in an unrealistic world and its immoral methods. Only in the presence of death can one come close to “real men.”
Stephen William Hawking, the English theoretical physicist and cosmologist, reportedly saw the brain as a computer. It seems to me, moreover, that as our brains are meshed with non-organic modules, flesh and steel, a human can be re-built if not re-programmed from a system failure or system crash.
Question remains: Is there a ‘Kill-SWITCH’ to the Monsters we bring to life?
