Dr. Navarro’s insightful 2006 book provides important information on U.S.-China Trade Relations. In fact, I made several comments of which I shared with the author in my role as Faculty Assistant, 2007-2011, at the Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine.
Peter, nineteen years later, it seems you not only failed on three ‘battle fronts’ but ‘took one for the team’ leader and landed in jail.
Your final chapter, ‘How to Fight – And Win! – The Coming China Wars’ is very telling of what can be construed as your planned agenda for the President.

Peter, sadly your pandemic warning was heeded too late by your boss. Yet, in his 2nd term, Donny put a rush on TARIFFS – April 2nd!
But you had to have known that this ‘policy calculus’ would ultimately be a tax on the people. And who better than the people’s reps to NOT fight it – coalition of the unwilling/unable – CONgress!
Peter, seems like only yesterday when you wrote in 1984, “The Policy Game: How Special Interests and Ideologues are Stealing America.” WTF happened!?
Why not an Executive Order to force ‘Made in USA’? Right, No fucken way American Corporations would or could stop doing business in China.
Perhaps talking to Robert Lighthizer may have helped you. Lighthizer is quite familiar with tariffs. Having worked for Reagan he reportedly promoted a “new American System.”
But Lighthizer critiques all of Asia. And seems more reticent about China than India’s “fifteen or so billionaires” or what he reportedly calls ‘oligarchs.’
Peter, in the end, your Tariff ‘mission’ was struck down by the Supremes. One week later, Trump attacked Iran.
BTW, who advised the President on tariff list? Was it the same little busy buddy flying back and forth from Israel?
In your book you point to ‘Military War Triggers’ and in Trigger 5: Mao of Arabia, you note “Yet, another wild card is Israel…is moving toward a preemptive bomb strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.”
Moreover, your prescient words are relevant 20 years later, “By thrusting itself into the world’s hottest hotspot, China is courting, rather than seeking to avoid, military conflict.”
Peter, your reputation now supersedes your knowledge of macroeconomics and trade.
