Comrade X: Useful Asset, Useful Idiot or Idiot?

All the world’s my stage…
Is Russia’s conduct unbecoming? Ask ‘X’ or George Kennan, a former American Diplomate. In THE SOURCES OF SOVIET CONDUCT written in 1946 by ‘X’, we find its “power as we know it today is the product of ideology and circumstances.”
Vlad, Generalissimo Alexander V. Suvorov reminds us ‘When the enemy is driven back, we have failed, and when he is cut off, encircled and dispersed, we have succeeded.”
Kremlin, remember May 2023, “Riddle Me This… If Alexander learned from Aristotle and Borgia inspired Machiavelli, then how was Cleopatra motivated to tell Caesar WHERE to go and WHAT to do?”
Maestro Negotiator, knows well which cord to pull on Chief Puppet and his minions, all systematically selected – Useful Assets, Useful Idiots or Simply Idiots?
Little Marco, you say US not providing arms to Russia. After three years at war, don’t you think it needs to replenish energy, forces and its economy?
Marco, open to make deals with communist, how about lifting embargo of your hometown of Cuba? Mr. US President, Panama is about 1100 km from Havana. Talk about getting a ‘trade off.’
Russia, if you get dibs on Chernobyl your Rusnano could make another deal with Microsoft under the ‘right conditions.’ Americans, cancel deal with Consolidated and avoid US ‘red tape’ or hedge you bets?
‘Trust &Verify” NOT Buried with Reagan. Really, Ronnie said that the Soviets “achieved a ‘definite margin’ of military superiority.” As Kennan notes, ‘truth is not a constant but is actually created.’
Appears US presidents learned well what Kennan calls the ‘Soviet concept of power.’ Or the ‘infallibility of the Kremlin.’
“The Russian leaders are keen judges of human psychology, and as such they are highly conscious that loss of temper and of self-control is never a source of strength in political affairs. They are quick to exploit such evidences of weakness.”
Zelenskiy, in dealing with Putin or his Puppets, appears you did not “remain at all times cool and collected and that its demands on Russian policy should be put forward in such a manner as to leave the way open for a compliance not too detrimental to Russian prestige.”
Saudi Arabia, a birdy told me you too want part of the action. Don’t blame you. US arsenal doesn’t come cheap, even for a King.
Black Sea may have many wonders for Russia. Ask Moldova, Bulgaria and Turkey. Yet, the Beauty of the Red Sea has many opportunities. Just ask Yemen and the Houthis. Does the idea of renaming the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Saudi Arabia please you?
King, perhaps, Maduro put in a good word for you. If not, when Russia gets it what it needs, will it too get what it wants for the King and Persia’s Prince?
Of course, the oily Sands of Syria are very inviting. Rebellion, what timing! Three weeks before new US President took office and a Ukraine-Russia cease-fire was in the works.
China too has pulled on these cords. And she may note, My empire as Wall stood the test of time. Familiar with your frugal attempts of stalling for time.
Sun Tzu’s, “The Art of War” too stands:
In Energy, “Fighting with a large army under your command is nowise different from fighting with a small one: it is merely a question of instituting signs and signals.”
In Weak Points and Strong, “O divine art of subtlety and secrecy! Through you we learn to be invisible, through you inaudible; and hence we can hold the enemy’s fate in our hands.”
In The Use of Spies “Hence the use of spies, of whom there are five classes: local, inward, converted, doomed, surviving.”
Western nations, appears you fit all categories. So either you signed on or are the most depraved, the unsuspecting kind. “When these five kinds of spy are all at work, none can discover the secret system. This is called ‘divine manipulation of the threads.’ It is the sovereign’s most precious faculty.”
Kremlin’s puppets, who better to mislead the public than his ‘dogs of war’ or as Kennan points out “Like the white dog before the phonograph, they hear only the ‘master’s voice.’ US is ready to do business taking out its Pentagon’s “Soviet Military Power” playbook!
“Propaganda traditionally attributes to our adversaries the wrongs we know we commit ourselves…[and] place a nation in the grip of low-intensity war, closing off credit and trade, threatening military intervention, demanding austerity measures…calling for ‘free’ elections, refusing to recognize or negotiate with the regime in power except on its own terms, and sustaining a worldwide barrage of propaganda…”
Ukraine, Palestine, Lebanon, China, Iran, Germany, Romania, sound familiar? Syria, get ready.
Pentagon notes as to ‘third world issues’: “Our security is also threatened by illegal narcotics traffic…networks have developed into shadow governments with paramilitary or military forces of their own.”
Says Gervasi, “Indeed so. One of them is called the CIA.”
Syria in crisis. Ukraine in cease-fire negotiations.
I am reminded of the Congo Crisis and the words of Dag Hammarskjöld:
“Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step. Only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find his right road.”
One wonders if before his plane crashed on his way to the Congo for cease-fire negotiations he looked down and saw who striked him down? CIA ↔MI6 ↔ KREMLIN
According to U.S. President Harry Truman Hammarskjöld “was on the point of getting something done when they killed him. Notice that I said ‘when they killed him’.”
Iran and China: U.S. Targets of Opportunity
Mr. President Trump, on your watch, you targeted a powerful and brilliant general but lost your own. U.S. having presence across the globe needs to be reminded that they need to “sleep in the same bed they made,” unstable and bloody.
Once again, I am reminded by my mentors that Iran “moves very strategically and very quietly.”
In June 2020 I highlighted in “Iranian “Target of Opportunity” → Major General Qassem Soleimani” January 2, 2020
In a January interview with Jen Kirbyjen from Vox, Kenneth Pollack, author of The Persian Puzzle: The Conflict Between Iran and America and longtime Iran expert offered his insights:
“The US just killed Qassem Soleimani. It’s not just that we killed someone important, it’s the act itself. It’s the willingness to do something so big to Iran. My gut right now is that, so far, this has been advantageous for Iran’s hardliners. Because this reinforces their narrative that the United States, particularly Trump, is just a mad dog who can’t possibly be reasoned with, who should not be negotiated with.”
Pentagon: “Strike came at the direction of U.S. President.”
U.S. President: “Target of opportunity” and “Right thing to do.”
Alleged “imminent threat” was not clear and present.
It’s been our experience in matters of defense and national security that “If something is fishy, look whose casting bait.”
Theory► After the China mission in October, U.S. turned its aim to Iran targeting its Major General. Withdrawing from their deal with Iran was not sufficient for the U.S. It was necessary to “save face” when they failed in their June 2019 mission to infiltrate Iran with their spies.
Just ask the former CIA director and former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, “We lied, we cheated, we stole.” Pompeo, unlike some secretaries, Generals are NOT “a dime a dozen.”
According to Pollack, Major General Qassem Soleimani, “This guy was arguably the second-most-powerful man in Iran…the most powerful Iranian figure in their foreign policy. He was widely respected within the Iranian leadership.” I concur with Pollack.
How did Soleimani become a “target of opportunity?”
Two possibilities: Programed Target or Political Sabotage
Programed Target – Palantir, a CIA-funded startup, cofounder Alex Karp shared how his company’s products are used for “targeting of all kinds.”
Who will be the next “target of opportunity”? On February 26, 2020, the Former National Intelligence Council Chair Gregory Treverton spoke on the “Future of Intelligence.” Treverton stated, “Everybody likes spies. I don’t always remind people that spying is a kind of a “target of opportunity…”
U.S. President used similar phrases two months earlier explaining his order for a drone strike. Perhaps he was having an “espionage problem” with China and Iran. And this was his way of dealing with uncertainty or as he explained, “target of opportunity.”
Treverton concluded:
“I assume, since Xi is central in his power, that he’s also taken more responsibility. Anything bad that happens in China is now him. So I’d be surprised if there aren’t people around him now trying to figure out how to get rid of him, very quietly…It just seems like it’s a kind of natural thing to do.”
Natural? Need I remind you Americans of COVID-19 and the 7th CISM Military World Games – 18–27 October 2019. Location> Hubei Province. Wuhan. China.
Did the West look towards the East responding “by any means necessary”? In an apparent twist of irony and blowback the threatened Iranian “52 different sites” turned out to be 50 US states and a cultural icon.
CIA reportedly stated that no evidence was found that Iran was weaponizing its nuclear facility. Events appear to be “Coming Full Circle.”
Once again, I am reminded by my mentors that Iran “moves very strategically and very quietly.” Venezuela, Useful Asset for Iran and BRICS?
Détente or Domino Play?
Strategy of Détente has its presence on many tables. Liken to China and the Soviets, US President seemingly took neither side nor interest in wars in Ukraine or Israel. But just like Nixon, appears to be leveraging them in his favor.
George Kennan’s paper suggested a ‘firm containment’ of the Soviet Union. In other words, US needed to simply utilize politically and economic means to ‘hold back’ the Soviets, and that the key factor was time. Basically, the tactic of ‘stalling for time’ would allow the Russians to change their ideologies.
Understanding them well and not underestimating the Russians, Kennan predicted change would come from within. Nikita Khrushchev exercised de-Stalinization, M.S. Gorbachev developed ‘new thinking’ surrounding himself with intellectuals like Einstein. In complete contrast, US President communicate and appears to be ill-advised by Artificial Unintelligence.
Gorbachev saw the ramifications of nuclear disaster and plausible outcome of nuclear war. Trump seems to be indifferent. Yet, the ‘dogs of war’ selling arsenal make a hefty profit promoting fear of imminent nuclear war.
US Administration appears to have gone from a policy of ‘firm containment’ to firm commitment in its affair with Russia. So what happens now? Americans have a saying, “lay with dogs, awake with fleas.’
As I noted in 2014, let us ask Putin his thoughts on Ukraine. President Eisenhower coined the term ‘Domino theory’ from the Indo-Asian affair. It was put on the table when conflict and communistic deals clashed. Today it’s about conflict and opportunistic deals.
And the ‘power play’ continues., for this game has been a Domino play from the beginning.
“Red Scare” or a ‘DOGE and Pony show”?
Future of Russia and US? Appears both share much in common which may be the continuance of their ‘love-hate relationship.’ Says Kennan, ‘possibility remains (strong one) that Soviet power, like the capitalist world of its conception, bears within it the seeds of its own decay, and that the sprouting of these seeds is well advanced.” That was 80 years ago.
In my January 28, 2019 paper, “U.S. “First Red Scare” and Chinese Espionage: America’s Game Plan for China’s Communist Party” I noted warning by I.C. Smith, Former Special Agent at the FBI:
“The penetration of an adversary’s operation is the ultimate goal in foreign intelligence, and from all indications, the Chinese had succeeded masterfully.”
The use of propaganda, blacklisting, and witch hunts targeted the State Department, film industry, and War with Vietnam. Today’s use of threats and sanctions aimed at The People’s Republic of China (PRC) and The Russian Federation is a staunch reminder of the U.S. War with Communism. All for naught.
What does it say of a government who criticizes Chinese communism while their own has been reportedly infiltrated for decades?
House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) ring any bells?
“…the FBI throughout the war years and early postwar era was the only institution of the U.S. government that…clearly grasped the Communist problem, devoid of blinkers or delusions.”
– M. Stanton Evans
Beginnings of the “First Red Scare”?McCarthy’s claims go back to Democratic Senator Lee S. Overman. The 1919 Overman Committee reportedly investigated the First Red Scare, aimed at German and Russian threats.
Next, in the 1930s, Martin Dies, Democrat from Texas was the first to co-create and chair the House Committee Investigating Un-American Activities (HUAC) focused on Soviet communists. Then in the 1950s, McCarthy reportedly targeted Chinese and Soviet communists.
I am reminded of M. Stanton Evans’ excellently researched book, Blacklisted By History. The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy And His Fight Against America’s Enemies. After countless examples, Priestap may have correctly concluded, “The communist party reigns supreme. They just don’t rely on spies.”
Speaking of the FBI, refer to J. Edgar Hoover’s reportedly confidential files of the 40s. Specifically, “What Hoover Told Truman”:
“ . . . information has been recently developed from a highly confidential source indicating that a number of persons employed by the government of the United States have been furnishing data and information to persons outside the Federal government, who are in turn transmitting this information to espionage agents of the Soviet government . . .”
McCarthy, for some, was seen as a “warrior,” and from reading Evans’ book, pretty much alone in his fight. He stood at the frontlines and “campaigned to unmask communists.” But, he is “remembered as a demagogue, bully, and a liar,” a term best suited for world leaders who have betrayed their own people.
Peace Deals or Piece of the Pie
Ottoman Empire – Middle East ►WEST: Oil
Korea ►Partitioned into North & South between Soviets and Americans.
Germany ►Victors Soviets-U.S.-Britain took the spoils: Military defense systems and Space and Engineering technology.
Ukraine ►Opportunistic Peacemakers, Russia-U.S.-Europe: Land and Minerals
Hmm, who will get Chernobyl?
No doubt, long affairs of Western transgressions affect not only their space, terrains and waters but reach the very spheres they seek to command, or render a détente. Brutal awakening to a developed spectrum shines a striking light on Eastern spheres of influence and power.
Israel, appears with each deadly strike you make you want to believe God renders you ‘the Chosen One.’ Yet, ultimately you find your controlling force is a striking distance of whom you need to live.
Jack F. Matlock, Jr., former U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union and Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, says it best:
“The idea that somehow controlling other countries that don’t want you to control them is an asset is absolutely wrong. Look at the problems we have in the Middle East today. It is a liability. It is not an asset.”
A specialist in foreign affairs, Ambassador Matlock has long called a “spade a spade.” Sir, your reputation precedes you. I tip my hat to you!
Memo ‘X’ or Grubaya Syla and Drool?
KREMLIN, last March I pointed out in ‘Poking the Bear’ † US Red Alert or Red Herring? “a straight line can be drawn from Pushkinskaya ploschad going NorthWest on Tverskaya St connecting at Moscow Oblast to the Crocus City Hall.”
Vlad, appears you were coy or projected pretense. Regime change is still the preferred method of the U.S. Yet, it was Zelenskiy who fell in “The Achilles Trap.”
Vlad, “The Violent Men” is a film my Grand Papa liked to watch pointing to Glenn Ford’s words, Never meet the enemy on his terms.’
Still, my victory in a race against a child bully proved my remark, ‘Unless he’s weak or unprepared.’
I remind you of my January of 2023 paper, Lion At Russia’s Gate, “a bomb is finished when it has exploded.” Energy Sector? You know what to do next. Finish it.
Zelenskiy, given a choice at the table, “stability over chaos, order over freedom,” which do you choose? Two years later, we see you’ve made your choice.
In the game of symphonic musical chairs, key is to find the Maestro before the music starts. Shostakovich or would you prefer Americas’ Boss Bruce?
Right, ‘you can’t start a fire without a spark’ at their ‘Hotel California.’
Russia has been critiqued for its longstanding archaic or decayed infrastructures. US too has been unable to hide its crumbling cities.
Liken to the Soviets, “It has necessitated the use of forced labor on a scale unprecedented in modern times under conditions of peace. It has involved the neglect or abuse of other phases of Soviet economic life, particularly agriculture, consumers’ goods production, housing, and transportation.”
And still their people want to believe…
Vlad, Ideology fortified, Circumstance met with Space and Time. I think it’s what has always been, Grubaya Syla and Drool.
No one understood this better than a Russian, Ivan Pavlov. Data and Drool. Yes, I see the connection! 🙂
As Sun Tzu says, “Be subtle! be subtle! and use your spies for every kind of business.’
Yes Comrade, All the world’s OUR stage… 🙂
